Dr. Birx to Step Down from Task Force

She intends to retire after the presidential inauguration.

Dr. Deborah Birx, the Coronavirus Response Coordinator for the White House Coronavirus Task Force, has announced she will be stepping down from her position in the new year. Indicating her desire to help with a presidential transition, she said, “I will be helpful in any role that people think I can be helpful in, and then I will retire.”

Dr. Birx was the U.S. Global AIDS coordinator, a State Department ambassador-level role that she left when she was appointed to the White House Task Force. Her decision to retire comes after criticism of her travel out of state to meet with family over the Thanksgiving holiday despite the official guidelines warning Americans to stay home.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Dr. Birx as she concludes her federal service on the Task Force.
  • That God would use the Task Force to eradicate the pandemic and keep Americans healthy.
  • For wisdom for the coming administration and the recovery strategies for the nation.
